I came on a weekend, so I had no choice but to order the weekend course lunch (1600 yen).  The amuse bouche was an almond butter canape.  It seemed to have used almond powder as well and there was a hint of curry (a good match).

The chilled squash soup had chives to give it a nice freshness.  The herbed croutons and drizzle of olive was a good addition.  It was smooth and creamy, yet the pumpkin reigned over the cream.  The dried fruits, goji berries and raisins, perhaps added even more sweetness.

For the main, I chose the chicken confit salad.  The confit reminded me of a roasted chicken with some slightly dry portions, but it had a great flavor.  The salami was smokey and not too salty with a peppery bite.  The prosciutto was higher on the salt content but still had a meaty flavor.  The salad's broccoli, yellow zucchini ribbons, lentils, grilled eggplant and grilled onions were dressed with a simple olive oil and wine vinegar dressing.  The half cooked egg mellowed out the saltiness of the cured meats, as did the vinaigrette.  The same croutons that were in the soup were used in the salad.  It's amazing how just a few crumbled walnuts can add so much to a salad.

The accompanying bread was probably housemade and had a thick crunchy crust with a soft, dense and chewy interior.

The coffee was good drunk black just as is.  The little cookie on the side was a yummy shortbread.  The peach compote was almost like a fresh fruit soup and was perfectly mildly sweetened.  It almost had the flavor of black tea and honey.  The almond and dry fruit cake was sweeter and was like a cherry almond tart (clafoutis?).
